Welcome to Ploughmans – yay – we’re up and running!

Welcome to the Ploughman’s Cottage blog.

My goodness, what a couple of weeks it’s been getting things up and running. I have to say that trying to do an eco rental has been a nightmare and it has been pretty much impossible to buy many of the things that we wanted to, or indeed, even find them. Where do you find eco cutlery that goes in the dishwasher? Or an eco travel cot? Or eco kids cutlery? Does this stuff even exist?

Given that we’re not on a lottery-winners budget, it’s been a journey that we’ve had to be pragmatic about.

However, we’ve also had some major wins; pieces of the old Lymington pier and local forest wood for bedside tables, British made beds from Bed Guru, Lymington sale rooms for a lovely silky and faded persian carpet for the Shed, eco BeanBags with 100% recycled beans from Big Hug, recycled plastic amazing tea cup seats from Holly Palmer Contemporary Furniture (British made and up-cycled – faboulous) and we re-homed Coco the Caravan, saving her from land-fill, and we’ll do her up for a playroom in spring next year. Lights from ebay, a pair of amazing deep blue stained glass lights for the living room, reclaimed timber for the porch…

Thank god for ebay…
